Match two lists in Excel, without VLOOKUP
Which of these customers are on the mailing list? Which invoices have no matching order? VLOOKUP answers that only when both files write things exactly the same way. Klerio matches the lists on the column you choose, loosely if you like, and shows the rows that didn't match on each side.
How it works
- Open Merge files and choose your main list and the second list (CSV or Excel).
- Pick the column that links them, such as email or customer ID. Klerio suggests likely ones.
- Turn on 'match loosely' if company names, phone numbers or postcodes are written differently.
- See how many matched, the rows with no match in each file, and download the joined list.
Why Klerio
- No formulas: No #N/A errors, no dragging formulas down, no helper columns.
- Loose matching: Acme Ltd matches ACME Limited; 07700 900123 matches +44 7700 900123; SW1A1AA matches SW1A 1AA.
- Both sides shown: Rows in your main list with no match, and rows in the second list that weren't used.
- Keep what you need: Keep every row of the main list, only the matches, or everything from both.
Common questions
What if an email appears twice in the second list?
Klerio tells you which values matched more than one row, and uses the first.
Can I just compare two versions of the same list?
Yes: Compare files shows rows added, removed and changed between an older and a newer export.
Is it free?
Merging is part of the Klerio app, which you can try free for 5 days.
